Position: System Administrator

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance in systems and software production environments.
  • Perform system administration tasks for engineered systems, including image upgrades, re-imaging, database patching, configuration, and health checks.
  • Plan and advise on upgrade implementations and image management.
  • Proactively alert customers to potential product issues and deliver reactive onsite technical support.
  • Resolve known issues using procedures documented in the Knowledge Notes database.
  • Document unknown issues that require expert technical knowledge and escalate them when necessary.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of complex product problems and follow up on technical escalations.
  • Collaborate with developers to enhance problem-solving approaches.
  • Provide and verify problem workarounds or patches while researching and responding to technical inquiries.
  • Become a trusted advisor to product developers.

Requirements:

Essential Experience:

  • Expertise in Linux systems, including servers, storage, and networks.
  • Hands-on experience in mission-critical data center systems and database environment administration tasks.
  • Experience with operating systems virtualization (e.g., VMware, OLVM).
  • Proficiency in Oracle Database with RAC/Grid Infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting skills with complex system environments.

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of Oracle Engineered Systems (e.g., Exadata, PCA, ODA, ZDLRA Cloud Machine).
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle technologies such as ASM, Data Guard, and Recovery Manager.
  • Experience with OVM migration projects.
  • Expertise in patching for Exadata, Exalogic, PCA, etc.
  • Mid-level+ scripting/programming skills for automating SA tasks (e.g., Python, Ansible, Shell scripting).
  • Working knowledge of containerization tools like Docker, including creating custom container images.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to work independently in an individual contributor role.
