Responsibilities:
- Spearhead the evolution of Barclays' digital landscape by driving innovation and excellence.
- Provide API production support in a follow-the-sun model, ensuring service excellence for colleagues and customers.
- Manage incident and problem resolution across Product Tech API services while meeting the bank’s SLA for incident management.
- Join MIM calls and support 24x7x365 system availability.
- Monitor and maintain the bank’s critical technology infrastructure, resolving complex technical issues while minimizing operational disruptions.
- Provide technical support for the service management function, resolving complex issues for clients.
- Execute preventative maintenance on hardware and software, utilizing monitoring tools to prevent and address issues.
- Maintain a knowledge base documenting resolved cases for knowledge sharing and self-service opportunities.
- Analyze system logs, error messages, and user reports to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Enhance automation, monitoring, capacity management, resiliency, business continuity, and front-office support.
- Identify and remediate or escalate service-impacting risks and issues.
- Tune monitoring tools, thresholds, and alerting mechanisms for proactive issue detection.
- Lead and supervise a team, supporting professional development and coordinating team resources.
- Guide decision-making and risk management in alignment with relevant policies and procedures.
- Embed new policies and procedures to mitigate risks.
- Build relationships with stakeholders across teams and external organizations.
Requirements:
Technical Skills:
- Strong experience in API support, including API technologies, aPaaS, OpenShift, databases, and interfaces.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, including shell scripting for automation and optimization.
- Experience with Kibana log aggregator tools for API issue analysis.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as AppD, Netcool, and Jenkins.
- Knowledge of Bitbucket for version control and software development collaboration.
- Understanding of ITIL v3 framework for incident, problem, and change management.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving system, application, and performance-related issues.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of addressing complex challenges.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
- Ability to work independently, under pressure, and in high-demand situations.
- Proven ability to provide second-line support and incident management.
- Strong time management skills with a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
- Experience working in a 24/7 on-call support environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Hands-on experience in incident and problem management or business analysis.
- Previous experience supporting production environments in a financial institution.
- Knowledge of financial markets and trading systems.
